The last couple of posts have been heavy, but, fortunately, that's not all there is to life.
Here's a selection of the photos from my trip to California.
Of course, I have high-res copies for family members who may want them. :)

Your niece is cu-u-u-te. I have yet to see a picture of my great-niece born January 15. My mom hasn't seen her live because of flu epidemics going through her nursing home.
I'd wondered if you had decided Antiochian Archdiocese versus Orthodox Church of America yet.
His Grace Bishop TIKHON of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania visited our shurch in Coatesville today. We were shorthanded in choir because our reader was compelled to serve in the altar. Afterward, the potluck banquet was enough to serve 3 times the people there.
I told His Grace that I had submitted a question to the St. Tikhon's Monastery website and that I hadn't received an answer in 2 months. His subdeacon Gregory admitted that's how far back it was messed up. Sounds like they need Daniel's services. (Or at least Thomas's.)
Speaking of Tom, he and the girls have spent the last week in Austin with his childhood friend. He will be flying back to CA on Tuesday morning while the girls drive on to PA. Pray for safe travel.
Lovely pictures. I love how adorable that bonnet looks on Talia!
Oh, these are so interesting, fascinating. Having a good camera makes a difference. You captured some lovely shots. Shows the talent of the photographer. Thank you for this post.
And yes, Talia is so pretty in white. I love the B&W, too.
Thanks for the pictures. I am glad you got in your pirate adventure. Would you recommend it?
I really like the bee picture.
Of course, all the Talia pictures are beautiful!
Erin, to be quite frank, the pirate thing was cheesy but fun. Personally I would prefer Medieval Times for entertainment, but it was still fun. There was audience participation in the pirate show, which was amusing to watch. Being sick I had pretty much no appetite, so I really can't speak to the quality of the food!
These photos are incredibly awesome.
(And, on another note, you've been memed. :)
You are quite the photographer, Nikki. YOu hold so many talents, I'm jealous :)
Susan,
We went to the OCA in the end. It was a matter of the smaller, more intimate group dynamic vs. the big church dynamic. We opted for the familiar in the small parish. It's a very nice bunch of people, but even that small group manages to have a nice, solid choir. We love that, too!
I pray everyone's travel was accomplished safely!
Angie,
Yes... nice bonnet! I think she looks very cute in our gift.
Mom,
I played with the photos - both the focus and the color/contrast afterwards. It's fun to play! I'm a sucker for B&W, though.
Erin,
I have to concur with Angie that the pirates thing was very silly. The pit the various "crews" (we were "orange") against each other, and our crew was largely composed of drunk frat boys dressed in costumes. It made our group rowdy - so rowdy that characters on stage would tell them repeatedly to be quiet. That probably made the event for me... that and the beer they would splatter on my back when they got excited. Oh, and the Orange Pirate wasn't too unpleasant to look at. ;)
L.L.,
Thanks! I saw the meme and it's on my very short list of blog items to get to soon. :)
Jennifer,
Thanks for dropping in and for commenting. The photography is new to me... new and fun! I'm glad you like the results. :D I doubt there's any need for jealousy, though!
